WilyOutside of the notable in media res starting sequence, Mega Man 7 is probably the most by-the-numbers Mega Man game. The backgrounds can clash with the action to the point that everything feels too busy and little inconveniences like lethal projectiles sometimes get lost in the shuffle. The colorful anime-inspired style looks good in motion but sometimes adds an imprecise measure to the platforming, especially when paired with a slight over-animation in Mega Man’s sprite. The voice work is atrocious, with characters spouting inane dialogue in cringe-worthy, ridiculous voices.
